Recently, it have come to my attention that Vocaloidism has been receiving bad publicity from various other Vocaloid fans, mostly from the other Vocaloid forum (such as VocaloidOtaku.net). A previous blog post about Sonika caused controversy amongst English Vocaloid fans, who felt that they post was unfair towards Sonika's comic artist and translators.
Subsequently, a large amount of angry comments were received and the post had to be taken down. However, our image as a neutral Vocaloid news blogging site has been destroyed in the minds of many other Vocaloid fans. I'm sure that, as a proud member of Vocaloidism, you would all wish us to be seen in a positive light. Currently we are seen to be biased towards the Japanese Vocaloids, and as treating the English Vocaloids with scorn. So I turn to you, the members of Vocaloidism, to suggest ways we can amend this problem, and to show the rest of the Vocaloid fandom that we, indeed, do care about all Vocaloids! If you have any suggestions as to how to clear our name and address this issue, please do reply to this post. Thank you to Krystal for letting me know about this. One more thing, to blog editors, please do not post your personal opinion on an article in the blog, unless there is a disclaimer above it. This post is one example of a personal blog article. Oh! I got it. This only took a second.
Chip in money-- buy Sonika. Let me make a song with her. It'll be a hit on NND because it'll be so awesome. They'll have to apologize and ask to be our friends. :D ...okay, so I'm half-kidding. But only half. |

To be fair, I know little about most of the English Vocaloids, and I did not like Sonika's original 'artwork.'
Her new one is a tad bit better. The later drawings of her (in comic form, etc.) were perfectly fine, though. It was simply the 3D model that turned me off initially. If we could reference the post in question, it would be quite helpful in understanding what the criticism is directed at (remove the author names if necessary and whatnot). It's worth pointing out here that, even after making reperations for any slights against Sonika and the other English 'loids (Big Al, where are you!?), the site will be quite Japan-oriented. This is due to the simple fact that the Japanese Vocaloids have a far, far larger fanbase than the English ones, which tends to mean there's more to report on. If the English fanbase actually starts kicking into high gear at any point (something we aren't actively helping with, I'll admit, but I'm not sure how we would go about that, anyway, without exorbant amounts of server space and bandwith), things would become more equalized.

Hey guys, my name is Engloid and I am a member of VO and also run a English Vocaloid blog.
At first I would just like to say at Tari that the English fanbase has been very active recently, however you mostly likely don't know this because most of it takes place at VO. What Engloid fans ask from Vocaloidism is very simple. Stop criticizing Engloids every time you do a post about them. You guys seem to have a neutral attitude towards everything except Engloids. For example the way you guys posted about Sonika when she was released. You can't honestly tell me ya would have done the same report for a Japanese Vocaloid. Also just because you guys don't report news on the Engloids, doesn't mean there aren't any there. For example, Leon,Lola, and Miriams price has been dropped, so has Sonika but instead you get a free poster of her box-art when you buy her, and Big Al is now officially out. Also you guys celebrate the Japanese Vocaloid birthdays but not the Engloids? Not to mention that I know from a personal source from one the English Vocaloid company that there is going to be quite a few more interesting surprises in the future. So, yeah that all I wanted to say. Just try to keep it neutral in the future you guys. |

The same thing stands for all the stuffs you pointed out. The editors write about things that interests them. If there aren't any editors on the blog that's interested, or keeps up, with English vocaloids, we can't really blog about them until they're pointed out to us. (Like me. I only goes through Hatsune Miku Miku and Nyappon! for vocaloid news, which covers the Japanese part of the fandom.) What you can do to remedy this, is to become a editor here and write about them too. I'm sure we all welcomes you on that. Oh by the way, the Japanese translation of the Sonika comic sometimes really don't deliver the intended meaning. It'll also help if more kanji can be used. The posts in Vocaloidism are written by several editors, not just by one person. Of course, usually the article are reviewed by other editors usually. The thing is, most (if not all) of the editors in Vocaloidism is a huge Japanese Vocaloid fan and knows very little of the English Vocaloid world. We would love to know more, and for that to happen, we would need an English Vocaloid Blog Editor. Of course there are many news on the English Vocaloids, but we usually don't know about it. Most of our news sources are from Japanese sites that mainly report on Japanese vocaloids, with a few English Vocaloid articles. If you want to be a blog editor in here, that would be a huge help. Please tell me if you want to. =) I'm sorry in the past the posts haven't really been equal, and the blog post review haven't really been enforced well. I'm going to make sure this sort of thing doesn't happen in the future anymore. Thank you very much for your post. =D

I didn't miss anything. I understand that Vocaloidsm have different editors, in fact I know that person who write most of the blogs about Engloid is Joe Mello.
However, despite the fact that you don't think that one individuals views reflect you as a whole, for those who are not members of Vocaforum it does. That's how it works even in the real world. That's why Vocaloidism, and not just Joe Mello, is being hated on at the moment. Also thanks for the offer, but I have no interest in being a blogger for the site. Vocaforum doesn't really have the type of environment I like to be in as a Vocaloid fan. |

And you kind of contradicted yourself when you say you get posts from the mikumiku blog as Big Al was referenced to hell and back, but no one felt that they should post the article yet. Why? There was no more information to release. There was absolutely no reason to hold it back. Not to mention the absolutely disgusting display that came with that post about the Japanese comic. There was nothing wrong with it that suggested that you would need to lower your standards. The Japanese translator had adjusted the script to better fit the audiences, not to mention adjusted the way it reads and completely minor factors in accordance to the audience. It is actually a better localization than most. The fact the writer felt it was something to complain over was the final straw. it's not even the English Vocaloids, though. The blog occasionally gives off an air of superiority and a very high horse, though I never checked who was acting like he was ~above~ all of the things he wasn't interested in. Man, this forum is sleek though. Piapro, niconico, and pixiv buttons and everything. I am very jealous. *drools* |

To be honest, I don't really know all of the blog editors, but I do know that I and DT (since I talk to him a lot) have a neutral opinion on the English Vocaloid. I don't even know why one of my editors started to bash the English Vocaloid. I actually like Sonika ever since they've shown her new design. Hmm, by mikumiku do you mean 初音ミクみく? If so, I don't really know. Maybe one of the blog editor can answer that for you. Recently I've been busy administering the server I had no time to make some articles. But when I took a glance at the Pending Review blog posts, I see a blog post about the release of Big Al being made by DT. About the Japanese Comic, I'm very sorry about that. Honestly, I see no problem with that as well, and think it's a pretty good localization too. I don't know why my blog editor published that article, but I do know that that's why Vocaloidism as a whole is now hated and is marked as an English Vocaloid hater. =x I don't really understand what you mean by "an air of superiority and a very high horse, though I never checked who was acting like he was ~above~ all of the things he wasn't interested in" though. Can you link me an example of a blog article that's like that? I want Vocaloidism to be as neutral as possible. So I guess I'll need to clean the blog up a little and enforce some rules... I've been busy with the Forums and Wiki lately. Thanks! I love the fact that Nico Nico Douga allowed video embedding now. xD If you have any more issues please do tell me. You can also send me an e-mail if you want. I'll respond any issues or comments or suggestions. =)

That, and the last time HMM mentioned Big-Al, it was this post. I'm not even aware he's released.
